Many of us grew up around people that loved the outdoors. We can look back and recall the times we went out on a picnic; went camping, fishing or hunting. Those times never leave our minds and sometimes they spur us to seek more time in the outdoors as we grow up.
For most of my life, I was raised in the city. Our father, on the other hand, was raised in the country. He made sure his boys were exposed to the types of things he was exposed to in the country when he was growing up. Every chance he got, he took us on picnics and taught us to camp and fish. When we were around 7 years old, he added hunting to the mix.
Like many fathers through the centuries, our father always taught us the importance of using our equipment safely and using our heads when in the outdoors.
Being in the outdoors holds many responsibilities. As I grew older, those responsibilities grew along with the knowledge and wisdom that came with them.
Unlike most city boys my age, I was sent off to a relatives farm during the summer months. It was important to our folks that we learned the meaning of hard work and the payoffs from it. When I look back, I can see that these were important lessons that would affect my life, my success and my ability to fully enjoy the outdoors. Since then, anything I’ve done with a fishing pole, a gun or a bow has been fairly successful.
My love for hunting and fishing was intensified in 2008 when my 2nd wife, Greywolf, stepped into my life. Her Native background & country girl, (more of a country tomboy), upbringing has been a plus for us. I found out very fast how much of an outdoors-women she was when she stayed by my side, day after day, through several hunting seasons.
As a young girl growing up, Greywolf hung out with her brother. They often hunted small game and fished. She also helped her family raise a garden which helped to feed them during the harsh winters.
Teaming up with Greywolf in life has been amazing! "Hunting and fishing with my brother when I was young was a blessing. But hunting with the best hunting partner and best friend has been amazing to say the least. The things I have learned as a child, and now as a hunter have made me feel that I have finally found my calling in life. Hunting and fishing is in my blood. Without it I would not be complete. Working with the small businesses has been a huge blessing for us. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else or with anyone else but the hunters of now, past, and future. May you all find your passion I have with my husband and the hunting and fishing world" - Greywolf.
Lots of outdoorsmen now days are finding out that having your best partner in life excited to hunt beside you is quite amazing. Enjoying watching the mornings come alive and the quest of your quarry in nature’s finest is the best date a couple could go on. Many other couples now days look forward to the seasons together and share a love of the outdoors.
Since we're both retired now and have ample time on ours hands in the off-seasons, it wasn't too long ago when Greywolf pushed me into getting involved with the outdoors industry. We help small businesses by promoting the products that we have found to be the best for us in our full time hobbies. Some of those businesses and companies have embraced us on their Pro Staffs and allow us to work with them.
We both have the mindset that working with others and giving back in the best we can afford, is rewarding and the best way we can be productive members to society. To be able to do that in an area that we both love, and have spent a lifetime doing, is a plus.
Besides our personal Facebook pages, Greywolf also started our outdoor page that we call “Sacred Acres Outdoors” where we share our experiences and the outdoors with others. We also promote the products from the companies that took us under their wings and help friends by promoting their outdoor group pages and post interesting services or products.
We feel that helping companies and sharing with others produces a good feeling in our life and the rewards of meeting new people as we go, brings many life blessings.
There are many other people out there that share the love and the feelings that you may have for hunting, fishing and the outdoors and many people that you meet will become like family. Therefore, we also started a closed group on Facebook called “The Great Outdoors” where people can share anything related to their outdoor experiences and companies can share their products.
When we were growing up, we never thought that hunting or fishing would lead us to something so wonderful as we grew older together. But how lucky we are that it has done exactly that.
